Rules of Partnership

Preamble

This document sets out the rules for employees of the Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Interdisciplinary Studies of the Technical University of Liberec (hereinafter referred to as the “Faculty”) when preparing partnership agreements.

Partnerships between the Faculty and industrial companies, other companies and organizations must be mutually advantageous and beneficial to both parties. Partnerships provide the opportunity for systemic interconnection with the academic sector, access to quality personnel and the technical facilities of the Faculty and its students and graduates. For the Faculty, they provide more intensive and better quality links between theory and practice and reflect the content and methods of teaching in its guaranteed study programmes. For Faculty’s students, they provide the opportunity to participate in solving practical issues and practice in companies during their studies and to gain or strengthen their general competence and chances on the labour market.

I. Partnership Agreement

This is a legal agreement between the Faculty and its partner, which defines the framework and specific content of the partnership, its duration, the manner of its termination or withdrawal therefrom, and the amount the partner undertakes to contribute to the agreed activities of the Faculty. The Partnership Agreement does not limit the possibilities for further collaboration e.g. in the field of contractual research, complementary activities, research projects etc.

II. Types of Partnership

 1. Partner

The number of Partners of the Faculty shall not be limited, the Agreement shall usually be concluded for a period of one year.

Partners shall be suitably presented on the website and other official materials of the Faculty in the form of a logo or text or a link to their website in designated places.

Partners shall have the right to:

1. A. Place promotion and communication materials in designated places and areas of the Faculty, if they do not restrict normal operation and do not contradict internal or generally binding rules and regulations. The Faculty shall ensure that similar materials of companies and other entities that are not partners are not located in these places and areas and that they are removed if necessary.

1. B. Place up to three news items or information related to content of the partnership on the official website and other electronic media of the Faculty per year. These may be press releases, employment offers or excursions for students etc.

1. C. Offer two theses themes (Bachelor’s dissertation or Master’s thesis) and two themes of other qualification work (coursework or semester projects) per year and propose their consultant for such work. These themes shall be included in the official offers of employment in the Faculty’s information system with the relevant identification. In the event that there shall be no interest in the proposed themes, the Faculty shall not be obliged to accept them for resolving or set them as a compulsory theme. To increase the incentive to select a theme, at the time of assigning a theme the Partner shall have the opportunity to offer students a target bonus for successful completion in the form of a scholarships paid by the Faculty in the event of a successful defence at the specified time and to the specified quality. Payment of the target bonus may be spread over several instalments during the performance of the work, and shall be payable based on the fulfilment of predetermined successive milestones. In the event that the student shall not meet the required conditions, the target bonus or the remaining part(s) thereof shall be transferred to the scholarship fund and used for Faculty awards for the best thesis chosen by the Dean.

1. D. Offer one Partner’s Award per year in the form of a financial or material prize to a selected student for their thesis. The prize shall be awarded by the Faculty Dean, the Partner shall have an advisory vote during the selection of the award-winning thesis.

1. E. Offer students the opportunity to participate in a professional excursion or open day at the Partner’s establishment per year, the maximum number of places shall be limited to 40. The cost of the event shall be borne by the Partner, the Faculty shall cooperate with the Partner in promoting and organizing the event but shall not be obliged to ensure full capacity.

1. F. Offer one scientific lecture per year on an appropriate subject taught by the Faculty relating to the studied theme for a maximum of 90 minutes. The Faculty shall provide synergy in finding a subject, theme and date, and shall have the right to refuse the offered lecture in the event that the theme is unsuitable or does not have the sufficient technical quality.

1. G. Participate in an appropriate form (installation of a promotional stand, sponsoring prizes, participation of a representative of the Partner on an expert panel, etc.) in the preparation and performance of one leisure or incentive activity organized by the Faculty for its students.

1. H. Place information about the partnership with the Faculty and its logo or the logo of the Partnership Programme on its own website and on other materials, under the condition that the logo or text shall not be modified and the rules for their use shall be complied with.

1. I. Send a representative of the Partner to events organized by the Faculty for members of the Partnership Programme.

1. J. Use the title and logo of “Partner of the Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Interdisciplinary Studies” for their own promotion in printed material and presentations on their own website etc. The rules for the use and appearance of the logo are further defined in the graphic manual annexed to the Partnership Agreement.

The Faculty shall charge a contractual fee for these services specified in the Partnership Agreement.

2. Main Partner

The number of Main Partners of the Faculty shall be limited to five, the contract shall be concluded for a period of at least one year.

Main partners are sufficiently presented on the website and other official materials of the Faculty in the form of a logo or text information or a link to their website in designated areas.

Main Partners have the same rights as Partners with the following differences:

2. A. In addition to the rights specified in paragraph 1.A., herein the Main Partner shall have the right to place extra informative materials in a selected classroom at the Faculty.

2. B. The number of news items or information stated in paragraph 1.B., herein shall increase to five per year.

2. C. The number of thesis themes stated in paragraph 1.C., herein shall increase to four per year, the number of themes of other theses shall increase to four per year.

2. D. The Main Partner may offer two Main Partner’s awards per year in the form of financial or material prizes to selected students for their thesis, long-term outstanding academic achievements or significant accomplishments while representing the Faculty at domestic and foreign professional, sporting or artistic events. The prize shall be awarded by the Faculty Dean, the Partner shall have an advisory vote during the selection of the award-winning thesis.

2. E. The number of possible excursions stated in paragraph 1.E., herein shall increase to two per year, together with a maximum capacity of 80 places.

2. F. the number of scientific lectures stated in paragraph 1.F., herein shall increase to two per year. In addition, the Main Partner shall be entitled to offer a presentation to students of the Faculty for a maximum of five hours. The Faculty shall be obliged to provide suitable space and inform students about the presentation in advance but it shall not be required to ensure their participation.

2. G. See paragraph 1.G, herein. The number of leisure or incentive activities organized for students of the Faculty, which the Main Partner may participate in shall increase to two per year.

2. H. See paragraph 1.H., herein.

2. I. See paragraph 1.I, herein.

2. J. See paragraph 1.J., herein. The title and logo “Partner of the Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Interdisciplinary Studies” shall be replaced with the title and logo “Main Partner of the Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Interdisciplinary Studies”.

The Faculty shall charge a contractual fee for these services specified in the Partnership Agreement.

 3. General Partner

There may be only one General Partner of the Faculty at a time, the Agreement shall be concluded for a period of at least one year.

The General Partner shall be suitably presented in a prominent place on the website and other official materials of the Faculty in the form of a logo or text information or a link to their website.

The General Partner shall have the same rights as the Main Partner with the following differences:

3. A. In addition to the rights specified in paragraph 2.A., herein the General Partner shall have the right to nominate one selected classroom of the Faculty, equip it with its information materials and modify its overall visual appearance.

3. B. The number of news items or information specified in paragraph 2.B., herein shall increase to 10 per year.

3. C. The number of thesis themes specified in paragraph 1.C., herein shall increase to 10 per year, and the number of themes of other theses shall increase to 10 per year.

3. D. The General Partner may offer up to five General Partner’s awards per year in the form of financial or material prizes to selected students for their thesis, long-term outstanding academic achievements or significant accomplishments when representing the Faculty at domestic and foreign professional, sporting or artistic events. The prizes shall be awarded by the Faculty Dean, the General Partner shall have an advisory vote.

3. E. The number of possible excursions specified in paragraph 2.E., herein shall increase to five per year, with an unlimited capacity.

3. F. The General Partner shall be entitled to offer teaching staff for one of the selected subjects, under the condition that the Faculty agrees with the guarantee of the quality of teaching and the education and expertise of the teacher. In addition, the General Partner shall be entitled to offer three full-day presentations for students of the Faculty. The Faculty shall be obliged to provide suitable space and inform students about the presentations in advance but it shall not be required to ensure their participation.

3. G. See paragraph 1.G, herein. The General Partner shall be entitled to participate in any incentive or leisure activity organized for students of the Faculty.

3. J. See paragraph 1.J., herein. The title and logo “Partner of the Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Interdisciplinary Studies” shall be replaced with the title and logo “General Partner of the Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Interdisciplinary Studies”.

The Faculty shall charge a contractual fee for these services specified in the Partnership Agreement.

 

III. Use of contractual fees

The Faculty shall be committed to the effective and transparent use of funds, particularly for the following activities:

A. Activities aimed at increasing the further competence and opportunities on the labour market of selected students of the Faculty, especially additional language courses and courses on presentation skills etc.

B. Activities aimed at reducing the academic failure of students of the Faculty, especially in subjects with a theoretical basis, i.e. in the form of compensatory courses for identified students.

C. Activities aimed at increasing the competitive environment at the Faculty, such as the organization of specialist competitions for the students.

D. Activities aimed at enhancing the quality of students admitted through supporting recruitment drives for secondary school pupils, open days, and organization of specialist thematic competitions for pupils etc.

E. Activities aimed at strengthening the collective and team spirit among students, such as harmonization events for students, leisure activities at the beginning and end of the school year etc.

F. Support for the preparation and participation of students of the Faculty in major national and international competitions and conferences.
