Individual study plan - ISP

DSP studies are conducted according to an individual study plan (ISP), under the guidance of a supervisor, and also with the possible participation of a consultant. The ISP is the basic document of the individual professional training of the DSP student. This document states:

  • Subjects and their content, expected dates of examinations and specification of particular areas studied (usually the subject of the theoretical basis, two professional subjects and a subject focused on English language and writing of professional publications),
  • The theme of the scientific research or creative activity in the field of research and development, which defines the open issues of the given field and thus defines the theme that forms the basis of the dissertation,
  • The proposed internship or practice abroad.

The ISP is prepared by the student with a supervisor or possibly with a consultant, in accordance with the provisions of the Study and Examination Regulations of TUL and is submitted for approval by the relevant Departmental Board (DB). The student and supervisor are informed of the outcome.

Study review:

In accordance with Article 15(2-8) of the Study and Examination Regulations of TUL, the supervisor submits an annual assessment of the student’s fulfilment of the ISP during the previous academic year to the DB. At the beginning of December, the Study Department (SD) sends an annual assessment form of the DSP student to all of the supervisors and PhD students. The supervisor states their opinion about the fulfilment of tasks, passing of examinations, level of completion of the dissertation, publishing activities and proposed measures. After adding the opinion of the head of the study institute, the annual assessment is submitted to the SD within the prescribed deadline (the first week of January). The SD passes the annual assessment to the relevant DB, where the fulfilment of the ISP and the obligations are noted and discussed. The DB then issues recommendations to the Dean. The SD informs the individual students and supervisors of the outcome of the discussions of the DB.
